However, the game is called “ The Black Masses” for a very good reason – thanks to the game’s next generation of crowd rendering technology, you’ll sometimes come across massive groups of hundreds (possibly thousands) of the infected who will charge at you en-masse. There are lots of different weapons to try out, most of which are melee based and can dispatch one or two of the infected quite easily (with some excellent limb dismemberment effects thrown in). It feels a lot like a Bethesda style open world RPG, with you able to explore freely, scavenge resources, level up, learn new abilities, chat to NPCs and take on quests and side-quests. The current demo build of The Black Masses gives you a sizeable chunk of the island to explore and plenty of content to play through. It seems that the island has been corrupted by a mysterious black substance which has infected the inhabitants and turned them all into mindless zombie-like monsters. Playable in single-player or online co-op (though only single-player is available in the current build), The Black Masses starts with your character washing up on a mysterious island after a shipwreck. We're presented with the questions, "How will the Missing Moment shape the future of the Marvel Universe?" and "Have I reached my limits? Is this the point where I cease to be Kang, and begin to be Immortus?" What Is Marvel's Timeless One-Shot? The next teaser shows Kang falling through time as images of Mayor Luke Cage, a Spider-Man wearing an all-black costume with red accents, and X-Men members Bishop and Surge are shown in the background. The third Timeless teaser asks, "Who are the Twilight Court?" with an image of eight new characters, who we can assume are the Twilight Court. "Is that why you haven't understood the main aspect of the Missing Moment? Of the Tribulation Events?" This Tribulation Events could be connected to the Living Tribunal, one of the major cosmic characters in the Marvel Universe. Up next is "Who is Kang's mysterious new arch-rival Myrddin?" A mystery character is shown holding a staff and their identity is hidden from the viewer. The first teaser asks the question, "What is the Missing Moment?" It finds Kang speaking to a green-skinned alien, with the latter referencing that moment.
